Troy, N.Y. —  A hypertonic grip expander for individuals with cerebral palsy and stroke patients, a chair for students on the autism spectrum, and an independent lifting device for quadriplegic individuals are the designs created by teams of undergraduate students from colleges and universities in the Northeast during the inaugural Engineering Innovation for Society (EIS—pronounced “ice”) student design competition.
Liping Huang, professor of materials science and engineering, has been appointed associate dean for research and graduate programs for the School of Engineering at Rensselaer.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Center for Communication Practices at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced a broader vision as well as a new name: the Center for Global Communication and Design, known informally as Comm+D. T
