Aeronautical Engineering, B. S.

Student works with the Wind TunnelAeronautical engineering focuses on the analysis, design and operation of structures, vehicles and systems (e.g. aircraft, helicopters, drones) which nominally involve safe, sustained and controlled atmospheric flight. It can also involve other vehicles and systems such as wind-turbines, Formula One race cars and submarines which operate in aerodynamics or hydrodynamics environments.

The Aeronautical Engineering program at Rensselaer is accredited by Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Aerospace and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
