Rene Mai, a mechanical Ph.D. student in MANE working under Professors Sandipan Mishra MANE and Agung Julies ECSE, has been given a NASA Pathways Internship. As a NASA Pathways intern at the Ames Research Center in Mountain View California, Rene works on the Digital Information Platform (“DIP”), which seeks to accelerate the development of air traffic management in the United States with the goal of making air travel more efficient and greener. As part of the DIP team, Rene is developing data-driven services for airspace system users on a cloud-based platform, which will be tested and evaluated on real-time and historical data to show improved sustainability and performance. At a higher level, her work aims to transform aviation to facilitate strategic, system-level decision making that improves sustainability and allows nimble responses to system demand changes. Congratulations!
