Harnessing Vibrations: MANE Faculty Member and Development Team Engineered Material that Generates Electricity from Unexpected Source

Development team led by MANE Faculty member Nikhil Koratkar developed environmentally friendly materials that produce electricity when compressed or exposed to vibrations.  Nikhil and the team developed a polymer film infused with a special chalcogenide perovskite compound that produces electricity when squeezed or stressed, a phenomenon known as the piezoelectric effect.
