CeFPaC Director Hosts Aerospace Summer Camp at RPI

Summer @ Rensselaer

This week, July 25 - 29, 2016, faculty members, Michael Amitay, Professor and Director of the Center for Flow Physics and Control (CeFPaC), and Onkar Sahani, Assistant Professor from the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) host forty-six students from around the world at this years Aerospace Engineering Summer Program.  Teaching assistants for the Aerospace summer camp are current RPI graduate students:  Haley Dell'Orso and Kevin Housley: co-terminal students:  Alex Kocher and Tai Thai; and undergraduate students: Taylor Dreher and Harry Wasko. The Aerosapce Engineering Summer Program has been in existence at RPI since 1997.  All participants in the program are high school students, grades 10th, 11th and 12th.

The Aerospace Engineering Summer Program is designed to explore the field of aerospace engineering, by providing lectures and demonstrations, hands on experience and model flight testing.    The program also allows students to learn about data acquisition and wind tunnel operation.  Students apply this knowledge when building a glider and an airplane and then perform test flights on each.
